Send your orchestra on missions to different planets, strategically acquire talented new musicians, and train them to reach their full potential. Delight the patrons who sponsor these concerts with your performances, and beware of unexpected challenges that will arise along the way.

In Philharmonix, you play as a space conductor striving to become the most prestigious orchestra in the Malaya sector. Each turn, you choose one of six main actions, or the basic action. The basic action involves traveling to Malaya's planets or earning money. Main actions include: recruiting musicians, training musicians and conductors, creating symphonies, performing symphonies, gaining patrons, and expanding your knowledge and experience. During your turn, you can also perform free actions to manipulate your game.

Each action consumes action points, which are randomized each turn and can consume more action points if the action is occupied. Players must therefore be efficient in choosing their actions.

Players can earn prestige in several ways, but primarily by playing symphonies and recording "albums" (objectives). Other methods of gaining prestige include regional majority, collecting musicians, and gaining patrons.

The game ends after five rounds, and the player with the most prestige wins the game and is proclaimed the best conductor in space!
