The first light of day pierces the mist of Sherwood Forest.

On the outskirts of Nottingham Castle, a guard finishes his rounds with a yawn. He stretches his arms and freezes. A noise? Just behind him... The fleeting shadow approaches, quick as a snake. The soldier falls on the ground in a thud. Robin then whistles softly in the direction of the forest. Some shadows come to life. The mission can begin.

CooPeration, Tactics, Narrative

In The Adventures of Robin Hood, players take on the role of Robin and his companions in an innovative and captivating epic that takes place both on the board and in a bound book. Throughout the 7 chapters, the board transforms and remembers your previous choices, allowing you to discover new events. The clever mechanics of windows to be opened directly on the board maintain a deep sense of immersion and constant tension. How to know, indeed, what each numbered tile hides? A guard? An ally? It should be noted that the game is not destroyed from game to game and that it is totally possible to start the adventure again to explore other paths. The main storyline invites this replayability by proposing a narrative fork that it will not be possible to fully explore in a single campaign. A specific mode allows you to replay the scenarios and approach them in a different way, in order to discover new possibilities.

Freedom of movement in the open world

While most of the game takes place on a large board, Sherwood Forest is completely free of boxes. Characters move by means of silhouettes that indicate, according to their pace, the distance they can travel. It's a simple and intuitive mechanic, which offers an incomparable freedom of movement. It is possible to explore the game board and solve the objectives as you wish, in order to live the adventure in complete immersion. An open-world game of a new type, which allows you to give free rein to your desires for exploration and discovery, and which allows different approaches to achieve the same objective.

A fluid and evolving mechanic

In Robin Hood, the resolution of actions is done with a bag building mechanic, which allows you to face a thousand dangers and to use objects gleaned along the way. The more the characters equip themselves and progress, the greater the possibilities and the more crucial the choices. The characters (who have their own abilities to unlock) also promote immersion with an asymmetrical mechanic that will allow each one to shine. As for the encounters and interactions with the environment, they refer to the collection. The short and incisive paragraphs allow the narrative to evolve and confront the players with choices. The gameplay feels as incredible as the possibilities are open.

The epic return of Michael Menzel

After the Andor saga, Michael Menzel signs here a masterly game, finalist of the Spiel 2021. Totally built on freedom of movement, discussion between players, diversity of encounters and strategies to be implemented to successfully solve its quests, The Adventures of Robin Hood offers an addictive experience that will not fail to excite the adventurers around the table. The interaction between the players is total, and the link between the board and the collection is always fluid in order to maintain the rhythm of the adventure. An innovative, generous and powerfully epic game.
